FASTTAC products are currently used on a wide variety of platforms, from ultra mobile ruggedized tablets and standard laptops, to standard desktop computers.  Many of our customers have found additional benefits from using large screen displays in job site trailers for coordinating documents with a larger team. 

Desktop computers and Standard Laptops

FASTTAC works absolutely fine on just about any standard desktop or laptop out there - in fact the majority of our customers are currently using FASTTAC products on one of these devices.  FASTTAC requires a fairly minimum specification: at least 1gb of RAM, video resolution of 1024x768, and at least occasional high speed internet access (such as an AirCard, wired or wireless network access either in the job trailer or in the office, etc).

Ruggedized Laptops and Convertibles

Panasonic Toughbooks have become a standard of sorts in the field, providing both a touch screen tablet interface as well as a convertible standard laptop with full keyboard.  One of the few devices with integrated mobile internet (AirCards), the Toughbooks have been particularly successful on projects where the device is used for FASTTAC as well as accessing other corporate resources such as Intranets or partner products such as Prolog or Constructware.

We have also had great success with the ruggedized Armor X10 mobile tablets which sport a daylight viewable screen and one of the best pen interfaces we have tested. 

Large Screen Displays

We've had great success with inexpensive large screen monitors used in field trailers to facilitate group discussion. Other promising new technologies include large screen touch sensitive monitors now in customer trials, as well as kiosk style setups available to all trades on a jobsite.

Printers and Plotters

FAST DCMS and FAST Bid can print the current view or an entire sheet to just about any printer or plotter supported by Windows.  While we would love to see everyone go fully paperless, we also realize that sometimes you just have to have paper.

Upcoming Technologies

We're always looking for the latest and greatest ways for our customers to gain value from the FASTTAC platform.  We recently reviewed an exciting new large screen tablet PC from one of our overseas partners.  With a large, almost tactile screen the teXXmo ruggedBIG is one of the fastest and coolest tablets we have yet reviewed.  The larger screen makes it possible to see more of a document resulting in less panning, while the integrated broadband internet means there is no need for an antenna to project from the device.  We're really excited to see where this product goes!
